Holiday in Carezza at the Strada Statale 48 delle Dolomiti
Carezza is situated at the Strada Statale 48 delle Dolomiti, which was built by tourism pioneer Theodor Christomannos at the end of the 18th century and leads across the Dolomites starting in Bolzano, along Via Val d’Ega to Cortina d’Ampezzo. Hotels were built parallel to this road. One of these hotels, the Grand Hotel Carezza on the foot of Catinaccio and Latemar, was dedicated in 1896 and welcomed famous guests such as Empress Elisabeth of Austria, Karl May, Agatha Christie and Winston Churchill during its illustrious history. The connected Carezza ski resort is among the oldest and sunniest in all of South Tyrol. In striking distance of the Grand Hotel, the first chair lift was opened on Paolinahang in 1951.
