The Planetarium South Tyrol is the newest astronomical facility in the „star-village“ Gummer, located at San Valentino in the midst of the italian Dolomites.
In contrast to the observatory „Max Valier“ where you can observe the stars and planets through an impressive telescope, the Planetarium South Tyrol simulates the night sky: stars, planets and constellations are projected on a 8m dome, which is located above your heads, immersing you in the wonders of the Universe.
Thanks to the newest digital technologies the Planetarium South Tyrol is not only a highly sophisticated cosmos-simulator but also a space ship! It is possible to fly to any celestial body you can imagine: If you have ever dreamed of landing on the Moon, seeing the enormous volcanoes on Mars or flying to very distant galaxies, far away from ours, then the Planetarium should be a place to visit for you.
And as if that wasn’t enough, our state of the art active stereo glasses, bring the stars within your arm’s reach and make the icy particles in the rings of Saturn seem close enough to touch.
Visit the „space ship" Planetarium South Tyrol in Gummer, experience the final frontier and boldly go where no one has gone before.
